Bellfoundry in Bloom - Planting Design Workshop
Come behind the scenes with us for the latest workshop in our Behind the Scenes at the Bellfoundry series, free to all as part of our National Lottery Heritage Fund project to Save the Last Major Bellfoundry in Britain.
Join Landscape Architect James Fox of FFLO to learn more about our plans to revive the Carillon Courtyard at Taylor's Bellfoundry and to share your own ideas about how the new courtyard should be planted. Participants will get a sneak preview of the new courtyard, which is currently under construction, and have the chance to explore some "hard hat" areas with the Bellfoundry Trust team. There will be a follow-on opportunity for workshop attendees to come along to help plant the new courtyard later in the spring.
This two-hour workshop will take place in the Old Laboratory at Taylor's Bellfoundry, accessible via the Museum Entrance on Freehold Street. Visitors are welcome to arrive from 10.45 am for an 11am start, when hot drinks and biscuits will be provided.
The workshop will be led by project landscape architect James Fox.
We kindly remind visitors that they must wear flat, completely closed shoes in order to explore the bellfoundry. It may be necessary for visitors to wear some personal protective equipment on the day, which will be provided by our team.
This workshop is suitable for anyone interested in gardening, landscape design or who is generally curious about the history and future of the bellfoundry! There are longer term opportunities to join the Loughborough Bellfoundry Trust team as a gardening volunteer.
